Following the success of 'The Nannies' at the recent Alliance Française French Film Festival, the AFTV is pleased to screen the movie
for senior French students (Years 10 - 12). 'The Nannies' deals with some VCE themes & topics such as Work relationships,
Aspirations, the divide between Wealth and Poverty, Migration & Social justice, Francophonie.
Angèle (Eye Haidara), a street-smart, young undocumented woman, lives off small tricks and scams
on the outskirts of Paris. Threatened by gangsters that she’s conned, Angèle is forced to hide and comes up with an ingenious plan - live as
a nanny in a chic Parisian neighbourhood.
Working for Hélène (César-award winner, Léa Drucker) a single mum with a 10-year-old son, Angèle
discovers the world of nannies, and becomes involved with their lives and working conditions. Although she was supposed to keep a low
profile, Angèle decides to help her fellow nannies by bringing a young lawyer, Édouard (Ahmed Sylla), on her quest. With the gangsters
closing in and Édouard falling in love with her, Angèle’s life is getting very complicated...
A feel-good comedy with some of France’s brightest rising stars and established actors, The Nannies is a crowd-pleaser in the vein of The Intouchables and The Kitchen Brigade.
