Superbe Soirée Trivia pour les années 9 et 10!! Un grand merci au comité Student Activities de l’AFTV! Merci à tous les profs qui étaient présents et surtout aux élèves pour leur enthousiasme! La joie était au rendez-vous! Merci à Sacré Cœur qui nous a gentiment prêté leur salle- Kirby Hall et aux ambassadrices du collège sans oublier leur prof Séverine Peyronnet! Si vous avez raté cette soirée, rendez vous l’année prochaine !

Objectives

  • To provide learning opportunities for students to speak French through a meaningful and authentic experience.
  • To encourage and promote the learning of French as an essential part of the school curriculum.
  • To give students an opportunity to interact with other learners of French.
  • To support and encourage retention of students beyond Year 9.
  • To have fun!

Note: The AFTV is supported by the Victorian Government.

Eligibility

The Soirée Trivia is open to Year 9 and Year 10 school students.

Each school can enter 2 teams of 4 students each. This can be made up of either:

  • 2 teams of Year 9s
  • 2 teams of Year 10s OR
  • 1 team of Year 9 AND
  • 1 team of Year 10

Once the entry is lodged with the AFTV, it cannot be altered.

Limited places available. The AFTV reserves the right to close entries at any time.

Soirée Trivia Procedures

  • Students must adhere to the evening procedures as stated by the MC.
  • No written notes or access to technology allowed.
  • Teams will be made up of 2 teams from 2 different schools.
  • Students are encouraged to bring something to drink for themselves, as food will be provided as part of the price of registration.
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd winning tables will receive prizes. All participants will receive AFTV certificates.
  • A minimum of one staff member per school is required to attend the event and actively supervise their own students. A maximum of 2 teachers per school is permitted. Teachers will be seated at a separate table.
  • COVID safe precautions will be put in place and any protocols in effect at the time (eg mandatory indoor masks) must be followed by all those in attendance.

Evening Format

Most questions will be asked in French and will also be provided in spoken and written formats. No preparation is required. Six rounds of questions will address the following categories:

  • Geography
  • History
  • Gastronomy
  • Language (Grammar, vocabulary, verbs)
  • General culture (e.g French icons, festivals and celebrations, music, cinema)
  • Francophonie

Games with prizes to be won will also take place after rounds 2 and 4.

Please complete and return the attached consent form if you DO NOT consent to be photographed at this event, as material may be reproduced on the AFTV website. These consent forms should be handed in at the commencement of the event to the event organisers.
