What qualifications and registration do I need to teach in Victoria?

All teachers wishing to teach in Victoria need to be registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching which is the professional body that sets the professional standards for teachers in Victoria. At the VIT website registration information is available for teacher graduates trained in Australia and experienced teachers trained in Australia and teachers trained overseas.

VSL Geelong

The Matthew Flinders Centre of the Victorian School of Languages Geelong is seeking a French teacher for Years 1 to 10 for 2023. 

Classes run on Saturday mornings from 9.00am – 12.15pm, during school terms. This year, the class had about 10 students in it. Instructors are paid for four hours per week (three hours of instruction and one hour of preparation) at a rate of $62.61 per hour.

There is only one French class at the centre, Years 1-10.

Cornish College

Cornish College has a teaching opportunity for one full-time OR two part-time teacher(s) to teach French from Year 7 to Year 12.

Cornish College is an independent, coeducational school in Melbourne, Australia with approximately 720 students in total. Located in Bangholme, the school caters for students in all year levels from three-year-olds, in the Early Learning Centre, to Year 12.

The new teacher would join a school that highly values French as it is the only French-Australian binational high school in Victoria and the third in Australia.
