What qualifications and registration do I need to teach in Victoria?

All teachers wishing to teach in Victoria need to be registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching which is the professional body that sets the professional standards for teachers in Victoria. At the VIT website registration information is available for teacher graduates trained in Australia and experienced teachers trained in Australia and teachers trained overseas.

About the Role

As a key member of our Languages Department working in Junior School, you will be able to deliver a vibrant curriculum to your Year 3 - 6 students and possess a strong knowledge of content and pedagogy in these areas. You will be using teaching strategies that cater to the needs of a diverse student group and a willingness to differentiate curriculum to the needs of the students. You will bring your passion for French to the school and above all, have a willingness to engage, connect and care for our students.

About You

You will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, and experience in teaching French.  You will demonstrate:

Care and connectedness with students

Current VIT registration

Experience teaching Upper Junior School (Y 3- 6) French  

Strong IT skills

Ability to encourage and motivate your students

Strong communication and organisational skills

Highly developed interpersonal skills

You will have demonstrated knowledge of the subject within the Australian Curriculum Frameworks where relevant

You will encourage students to take risks within a structured school environment, to make individual choices and to use new experiences as learning opportunities  

You will have a desire to work collaboratively with other teachers and actively engage in the broader life of the School

Experience with the AIM Language Learning program is highly desirable.

About the Role

 As we continue to build upon our success, an exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced French Teacher, to join our school community.

This is a part-time (FTE 0.80) to full-time, ongoing role and reports into the Head of Languages and the Head of Junior School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an engaging and innovative French curriculum across the ELC (4 year old kindergarten) and Junior School.
