AFTV Annual General Meeting

& 40 Year Anniversary

The 40th Anniversary and AGM of the AFTV was celebrated at the Catholic Learning Centre on Friday 10 February 2023. Being a special occasion, both Past Presidents and Life Members of the AFTV were invited to attend as well as AFTV members of schools in all 3 sectors. It was a very well attended and happy meeting where participants had plenty of opportunities to catch up with colleagues, some of whom they hadn’t seen for a long time.

As well as the business of the AGM, the AFTV was honoured to learn of the History of the Association through Dr Margaret Gearon’s speech prior to the cutting of the cake ceremony. The raffle offered many prizes and the AFTV is grateful to all of the sponsors for their donations. A most successful meeting/party and congratulations to the organising committee for a great team effort.

Félicitations to AFTV President Philippe Vallantin, who was awarded an AFTV Life Membership in appreciation for outstanding and dedicated service to the AFTV.

Partcipant Feedback

See below some particpant feedback:

  • The food was outstanding. For an AGM, it was highly entertaining! I certainly wasn't expecting that! It was quite fun!
  • Bravo! Such a festive occasion and first-class PL. Un grand merci! The AGM was conducted efficiently with written reports for all activities emailed beforehand and shown onscreen in the meeting before voting. It is important to highlight the remarkable range of activities conducted by AFTV sub-committees. It was also an historic occasion and wonderful to have the AFTV's history told by the founding president and so much er..'living history'present in the person of past presidents. There was a feeling of being 'looked after' which is important for teachers emerging from the classroom frontline (or 'trenches', even..)
  • The general 'buzz' of the meeting and the number of teachers in attendance was very pleasing, leaving a sense that the AFTV will continue well into the future.
  • It also feels like these evenings (the social part) go too quickly! I would love to have more time for networking and meeting fellow colleagues. It was great that the AGM component was much shorter this year than last year - well done and thank you.
